Throughout March, Brush Strokes Gallery will feature the enchanting “America: From Sea to Shining Sea” exhibit of paintings by Carol Waite. Having spent her childhood years in Asia, Carol fell in love with oriental brush painting with its bold strokes done in quiet contemplation. She adopted that style as well the mediums of Sumie ink and Chinese watercolor on rice paper. Carol’s subjects, likewise, have typically reflected Asian themes and much of her art depicted delicate flowers, cranes and other birds.
In this exhibit Carol uses the same mediums but applies her skillful artistic talent to a new range of subjects, the wondrous features of our country celebrated in “America the Beautiful,” ranging from dramatic crashing waves to a shimmering ocean sunset and peaceful misty mountains, as she combines elements of both the East and West in her creations.
Also on display will be works by other Brush Strokes artists. View the varied selection of paintings, jewelry, glassworks, and photography by our members.
Brush Strokes Gallery, located at 824 Caroline Street in downtown Fredericksburg, is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM. “America: From Sea to Shining Sea” will be displayed from February 26 to April 1, and visitors will have an opportunity to meet and speak with Carol at its opening reception on Friday, March 2, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
